First, I would like to say thank you for your generous support of Pathway Home in the past. You may have donated in the name of a loved one or attended one of our fundraising functions. Without that support, the staff and volunteers of Pathway Home would not have been able to provide an extended-family of caregivers for two individuals at a time who are receiving hospice services. We have cared for over 50 people, focusing on their comfort and enhancing their quality of life, since we opened almost 2 years ago. One of our most important jobs is educating families on the dying process and walking them through it with their loved one. Understanding the changes they are seeing, takes some of the fear and apprehension out of the situation.
This past year has brought us a new understanding of our mission. Pathway Home is comprised of the people we care for, the families we support, and the volunteers who selflessly donate their time to provide care to their neighbors and strangers alike. We have gained recognition of the quality and compassionate care from our staff and volunteers, not just by the community, but also the health care providers we interact with on a regular basis.
The cost of caring for one resident is $250.00 per day, including staffing, insurances, and the cost of running a typical household, (groceries, mortgage, utilities, maintenance). Care is provided free of charge to our residents and their families. Funding for our home is dependent on donations, fundraising activities, and grants. Hospice services are billed by Lifetime Care to insurance companies, but Pathway Home does not receive reimbursement from hospice nor insurance. Our goal is to develop programs that will help sustain the services we provide.
As part of our plan for sustainability our annual appeal is a major component. We are reaching out to you to assisted us. We depend on the community and their generosity to help us to continue to care for our residents. They deserve to spend their days living to their fullest and making memories with their families.
There are several ways to contribute.
• Monetary donations are always appreciated.
• We also love donations of household goods such as cleaning and laundry supplies, paper goods and gift cards for groceries. Donations of these types of items means that we do not have to purchase them and saves on our budget.
• And last, but not least, is donation of your time and talents as one of our volunteers. Our volunteers are the backbone of what we do here and there are many ways you can help.
We hope you will contribute at a level you feel comfortable with and we appreciate your continued support and involvement with our mission of providing quality end of life care.
