Volunteer at Pathway Home

Pathway Home provides care to individuals who have a short time to live, and support to their families. Pathway makes it possible for people who are unable to get hospice care in their own homes to live in a home-like atmosphere where they receive the care they need. Families can and do remain involved in the resident's life.

Pathway couldn't exist if it were not for its dedicated volunteers who provide patient care in the same way a family member would if the resident was able to stay at home.

New volunteers are welcome at any time. They receive the training they need from our staff; no prior experience or qualifications are required. Volunteers are assigned according to their comfort level with the work that's required and their availability. Staff are available to respond if additional help is needed.

Resident care volunteers work 4-hours shifts from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. each day. The shift may involve bathing, turning and repositioning, giving medications and other care giver tasks. It also involves a lot of laughter, lightheartedness and great conversations. (The night shift consists of paid staff.)

We make every effort to ensure that all volunteers are comfortable with what they are being asked to do. If you are interested in visiting, call the house at (315) 257-0307 and leave your name and contact information, or send an e-mail to volunteer@pathwayhome.org. The volunteer application form is available for download.

Pathway Home of the Finger Lakes is a non-profit organization which has provided comfort care to more than 130 people since it opened in 2017.
